On Oct. 1st, we had a big family bash for Dad's 86th birthday and Dawn's (sweet something) birthday! Katie and Danny decorated our rec. room with lovely streamers and balloons. Nancy prepared a delicious meal of Irish stew, Lobster Bisque, brown bread, "Kurn" (soda bread with raisins, like scones), rhubarb pie, shrimp. Dawn brought salad, Valerie brought jello salad, and angel food pineapple cake, Dad 's favorite sugar free cake.
Dad played trumpet and sax for about 3 hours, entertaining everyone with great, toe-tapping melodies. He even got up and danced with Mairead. We ended the evening with "name that tune."
All I can say that it took a group effort to get some of the songs from the 40's!
Team Meehan and Jackie did a great job cleaning up. Then we went upstairs as Katie went through our treasure chest of photos from our past!
So ,it was another great party for our family. Kudos to Katie and Danny for decorating and to Nancy for all the cooking and baking, and to Sean for all the lugging and for the decorations!! A fun time was had by all.
